On March 1st 2024 a contingent from the Youth Department set sail to the sister isle of Carriacou for a brief empowerment trip with the youth leaders of the Grenadines.
On Sabbath morning a mini convention was held at Hillsborough Church, the largest church on the island where representatives from the other churches in the Grenadines converged. An uptempo and melodious song service opened the morning’s service.
The Youth leaders of the Grenadines were given the opportunity to share a status report of youth work in their territory. An interview was conducted with seasoned youth leaders from both Grenada and the Grenadines, highlighting the personal benefits of the club.
Sabbath afternoon, some empowerment sessions were held with the leaders while the children were whisked away and engaged in child friendly activities.
Sunday morning the youth leaders from Grenada led out in drilling, marching, fore safety, fire building, knot tying, collector and fitness awards. Giggles, smiles, focus and amazement were plastered on most faces. The eagerness to learn and the sheer thrill of Christian fellowship reverberated among the persons present.
The visit to the Grenadines was well received and deeply appreciated by the membership. The fruits of previous visits were quite visible. The young people of the Grenadines seem poised and excited to swing the door fully open, investing themselves fully into youth ministry.
The trip was very rewarding. The efforts given were vastly outweighed by the impact made!
